The top exporting commodity is Potato which includes the expertise in Farming and Sort, Grade, Pack to export fresh stock in temperature controlled containers to GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Countries and all around the world. In bulk exports other items are Kinnow (Mandarin), Mango and Onion.


Pakistan produces best quality, smooth, natural yellow and red skin, long and round shaped potatoes. There are four major types of Potatoes grown in Pakistan.

Mozika (Yellow long shaped)
Santa (Yellow round shaped)
Aztex (Reddish Brown long shaped)
Lady Rossetta (Light Purple round shaped.

Pakistani potatoes are dominating major international markets due to good quality, taste, packaging and competitive price. Pakistan exports 1 Million tons of Potatoes and harvests almost 3 Million tons every season. After meeting domestic demand of around 1.5 Million tons, a surplus of 1.5 Million tons stays available for export to multiple countries. In Pakistan, potato is planted in winters from October and November, after 80 to 120 days of growth, in January and February potato starts to harvest. Potato normal shelf life is around 15-20 days if kept at room temperature. In season, million tons of potatoes are stored in cold storages at 4° to 6° Celsius. The supply from cold storages stays available for whole year.


Kinnow (Mandarin)

Pakistan has several varieties of Citrus Fruit, in addition to the popularity known as Kinnow (a Variety of Mandarin of easy peel) all of which may interest importers in Asia and Europe. Kinnow is rightly called the king of all the varieties of easy peelers and excels the best varieties of the world. The export figures for these fruits are increasing every year with leaps and bounds. In Year 2004 Kinnow exported from Pakistan was about 0.15 million tons. Its juice content is between 44% to 47.5% which is the highest for all easy peeler varieties. The sugar content is 12 – 13% and each 100ml of Kinnow contains 20-25 mg of Vitamins-C. Main Export market for Kinnow are: Central Asian States, Russian Federation, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, GCC. Exported in 5 kg, 10 kg, and 13 kg boxes in refrigerated containers at temperature of 4 to 6 Degree Celsius. Kinnow season starts in November and available till month of March. Kinnow also gets stored in cold storages of Sarghoda, Bhalwal and north Punjab. However, its storage time is less than 2 months but its price gets high when fresh Kinnow discontinues. Kinnow is exported in 40 feett refrigerated container with maximum payload of 26 Tons.



Mangoes – species (Mangifera Indica) are one of the most important and widely cultivated fruit of the tropical world, considered indigenous to Eastern Asia. Mango is commonly called as "king of fruits". Pakistan is the fifth largest producer and third largest exporter of mangoes in the world. Its soil and climatic conditions enable production and market supplies of good quality fresh mangoes over a period of about five to six months. Pakistani mangoes are one of the most popular and best-loved fruits worldwide, therefore, enjoy a prominent position in the international market. Because of its excellent flavor, attractive fragrance, beautiful shades of color, delicious taste and healthful value, Pakistani mangoes are now recognized as one of the supreme fruit in the world market. Mango varieties have been known for attractive colors, savoring smell, delightful taste and high nutritive value. It has rich sweet taste and contains essential vitamins and has captured a vital position in the World’s Mango Market owing to its taste. The most popular commercial varieties are Sindhri, Chaunsa, White Chaunsa, Anwar Ratole, Dasehri, Sonahra, Fajri, Langra, Began Phalli, Lal Badshah. Main mango procurement are from orchids of Sindh and Punjab, It can be exported by Air as well as Sea. Destinations countries are same as Potato, Kinnow and Onion. It is highly sensitive fruit however if precautionary measures will be taken it can be retain its freshness.



According to the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization, Pakistan is the fifth leading onion producing country. Pulkara, Desi Red, Pink Onion, Sariab Red, Chiltan and Swat, etc. The major onion growing districts are Hyderabad, Nassar Pur, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Sukkur, N-Feroze and Badin in Sindh and in Punjab Kasur, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Vehari, Khaneawal, D.G. Khan, and Jhang and in NWFP Swat and in Baluchistan Mastung, Kalat, Chagai, Khuzdar, and Turbat. These 21 districts account for more than 76 percent of the total production of onion in Pakistan. More than 50 percent of the total production comes from seven districts namely Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Swat, Mastung, Kalat, and Turbat. Onion Harvest Season in Sindh is November to May and in Balochistan is August to October. Main procurement for onion is from Karachi vegetable market. Commercial warehouses are available for sorting, packing and loading. Destinations for export of onions are almost same as Potato, however in onion 50mm plus dry onion is standard for GCC and in eastern countries such as Malaysia or Sri Lanka less than 50mm is acceptable as well.
